Firestone Set to Celebrate 13th Annual 4th at Firestone

The celebration of Independence Day in Firestone explodes with a day full of activities including a patriotic parade, live music, great food, a car show and fireworks. This year’s festivities mark the 13th annual 4th at Firestone event on July 4, 2015.


The festivities begin at 7 a.m. with the American Legion Auxiliary’s traditional pancake breakfast lasting until 11 a.m. Also at 7 a.m., the Carbon Valley Park and Recreation District will sponsor the Firecracker 5k & 10k that will take runners through a tour of the Carbon Valley communities. Runners can register online at www.cvprd.com or in person at the Recreation Center at 701 Fifth St. in Frederick. Race day registration will also be available from 7:15 to 7:45 a.m.


The parade begins at 10 a.m. and will weave its way from Thunder Valley K-8 through Historic Firestone to Miners Park for the celebration. Attendees will see classic cars, floats, horses, honor guard and other unique vehicles in the parade.


The main event will include live music, vendors, food and fun from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Miners Park, 226 Grant Ave. Vendors will line the street along Grant Avenue offering a showcase of business, children, nonprofit and art vendors. Attendees can enjoy delicious food items, a climbing wall, a bungee trampoline, water hamster balls, inflatable jumps, a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, caricature artist, balloon twisting, mini golf, kiddie rides and games.


A Classic Car Show will feature various classic cars, hot rods and trucks that can be viewed in detail by festival attendees. The car show will be lined on the Firestone Trail along Colorado Boulevard, marking a grand entrance to the festivities.


At 12 p.m., join the Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District Color Guard in the presentation of colors, veteran’s recognition, the singing of the national anthem, and parade and car show awards.


Outstanding live entertainment throughout the day will include a mix of music from The Long Run – Colorado’s Tribute to the Eagles, soul and funk music from The Burroughs, and local performances from student music groups at Frederick High School.

The 4th at Firestone evening event has all kinds of new additions with a beer garden in the park sponsored by the Carbon Valley Chamber of Commerce and local food trucks offering tasty selections. Live music on the stage begins at 6 p.m. with Alive on Arrival followed by The Country Music Project at 7:30 p.m. Don’t miss a spectacular fireworks display to wrap up a great day of celebration.
